Work with me

Put my brain to work.

Bring the idea, the challenge or the thing that should be working by now.

I get excited about other people's ideas. I ask questions, connect dots and usually end up reaching for a whiteboard, or opening something we can start building.

You can book time to think it through with me, get advice on a specific problem or explore a bigger piece of work together.

Bring the half-formed thing
Steve leaning on a desk, mid-idea.
Start with a chat
Fifteen minutes on a call, or a few lines in the form. Whatever is easiest for you.
$500 a month
Coach-sulting: a session a month plus voice notes in between.
Jams
An hour, a half day or a full day. Scoped and quoted on the chat.
Get shit done
Not billed by the hour. Get to the point, build it, get real feedback, go again.

What we can work on

Four places I'm most useful.

Getting an idea into the world

Who it's for, what problem it solves and what someone needs to understand before they'll want it. Positioning, educational marketing, offers and go-to-market strategy.

Making your expertise useful to other people

Getting the knowledge out of your head and into a course, product, book, talk, onboarding experience or service people can understand and use.

Finding what's getting in the way

The gap between sales and marketing. The customer journey that loses people. The training that hasn't changed what anyone does. We look at what's happening before deciding what to build.

Making technology earn its place

Useful AI, workflows, automations and small tools that fit how you work. The point is to free up time for the work that needs you.

The ways in

It always starts with a conversation.

Nothing gets booked before we've spoken. Fifteen minutes is usually enough for me to tell you honestly whether I'm useful, which shape fits, and what it costs. If the answer is someone else, I'll say that too.

Start here

A quick chat or the form

Tell me what you're carrying. Fifteen minutes live, a few lines in the form, or talk it out and send it over. I read and answer every one myself.

Jam sessions

One hour, half day or full day

The most potent time you can spend with me. A high-intensity sprint on your problem or ambition: anything goes, I steer, and it's all recorded so nothing gets lost.

How a jam works →

Coach-sulting

$500 a month

A check-in session every month, and voice note coaching in between for accountability and momentum. Ongoing rather than intense.

Bring in the crew

Scoped around the work

When it's bigger than one brain. Me plus the Learn Awesome team and the people I trust, plugged into your world until it's built.

Bring in the crew

My brain and my team, plugged into your world.

Some things are bigger than one head in a room. When that's the case I bring the Learn Awesome team and the people I've collected over almost two decades: learning designers, video, development, accessibility, brand, the lot. Friends and family of the business, not a subcontractor list I found this morning.

It runs the way a jam runs, just with more hands. Get to the point, build the thing, put it in front of the people who matter, then go again. Nobody is billing you to look busy.

Who turns up
  • Learning designers the craft that makes it land, not just look finished
  • Video and production for when it needs to be watched, not read
  • Developers to take the prototype and make it real
  • Accessibility so it works for everyone, checked properly
  • Brand and story when the thing is right but nobody understands it yet

Scoped around the work and the people doing it. You pay for what gets made, not for hours in a calendar.

Projects and partnerships

Sometimes I'd rather be in it than beside it.

A product with potential, a useful idea that needs shaping, a business where I can see the way through. That might be hands-on work from me, a project with Learn Awesome, or something longer. We work out the right arrangement around the work.

Free, either way

You can also take what I've already shared.

The Lab is where I put the experiments, tools and write-ups. Have a look. There may be something there you can put to work yourself.

What people say afterwards

The bit people write down is what they could use.

Ninety-nine written comments across five stages and two online channels. The words that come up most are energy, and then practical.
